Job Title: Clinical Education Specialist Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in educator experience required License: Must have DC license in hand Certifications: ACLS, BLS, BSN required; OCN preferred Must-Have: - Inpatient Acute Care experience - Telemetry experience - Clinical Practice Knowledge by Specialty - Wound vacs and PCA experience Description: This Clinical Education Specialist will serve as a clinical expert and resource. They will provide education, consultation, and guidance for a specific patient population. The role involves addressing complex patient care issues. They will support improvement in nursing education and practice. This position includes collaborating as a healthcare provider and leader. The specialist will assess educational needs and performance gaps of staff. Facilitation of personalized instruction to meet individual learner needs is essential. They will provide clinical supervision for learners and mentor staff and students. The specialist will promote experiential learning and plan appropriate learning experiences. Knowledge of universal precautions and workplace safety requirements is necessary. Emergency coverage on weekends may be required. The daily census will include caring for adults and geriatric patients. Interdisciplinary support will be available through various services. The specialist will cover areas related to surgical services. Documentation and charting will be completed in the electronic medical record system.
