JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Position Overview: The Class A CDL Driver role is a local delivery role with no overnight travel required. The primary function of our Drivers is to deliver and remove heavy construction equipment and supplies to and from the local customer worksite in the safest manner possible. Position Responsibilities: --- Loading, unloading and securing equipment --- Deliver and recover equipment at the customer site. Delivery includes driving various pieces of heavy equipment off and onto the truck, such as a Boom lift, Scissorlift, Forklift, Excavator, Skidsteer Loader, etc. --- Perform daily commercial vehicle inspection to ensure operational safety. --- Learn and demonstrate Customer Service Standards for delivery service. --- Accurately obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pick up and exchange forms. --- Demonstration of proper and safe equipment usage to customer at point of delivery. Definition of Class A Vehicle Any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 11,794 kilograms or more (26,001 pounds or more) provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds.) Requirements: --- Valid Driver's license with Class A CDL certification. --- DOT Physical Examination (Medical card) --- Working knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety regulations / DOT guidelines. --- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with customers --- Previous experience operating any heavy equipment is desirable, such as a Boom lift, Scissorlift, Forklift, Excavator, Skidsteer Loader, etc. --- Heavy Haul Driver, Local Haul Driver, Equipment Hauler, Heavy Equipment Delivery Driver preferred --- Prior training and/or experience with similar commercial vehicle types is preferred. --- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees or members of the business community. --- Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. --- Must be capable of calculating mileage distances utilizing road maps. --- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. --- 3+ years of experience preferred --- Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. --- Exhibit safe driving behavior / record instead of quality level record and maintain a Sunbelt quality level driving record. --- Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness on the roadways --- Exhibit professional defensive driving techniques to protect internal equipment and other drivers --- Demonstrate a "Can Do" attitude and be willing to do what is needed to exceed customer expectations. --- Must have general mechanical ability to make minor equipment and vehicle repairs. --- Have a working knowledge of delivery area. --- Previous freight handling experience helpful. Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work.
