Job Description:
We are currently seeking a driven and tech-savvy candidate to
join the team as a Benefits Specialist. This position will be the
first point of contact regarding all benefits concerns and will
interact daily with employees, outside affiliates, team members and
company Executives. The role is with an innovative and nationwide
company in the logistics industry. The company has a fun,
innovative, and casual atmosphere.*Responsibilities of the Benefits
Specialist:** Audits data records to ensure accuracy of reports and
invoices; arranges for timely flow of benefits payments* Conducts
analysis and usage evaluations of benefit programs* Responds to
employee inquiries regarding benefit options, benefit entitlements,
plan design, co-payments, deductibles, and dependent coverages*
Administers benefits programs including fulfillment of reporting
requirements, monitoring and coordination of general day-to-day
administration of retirement and other health and welfare insurance
plans* Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned
benefits processes* Tracks benefit eligibility dates and notifies
employees of entitlement eligibility* Conducts benefit orientation
meetings with individuals and groups as needed to introduce plan
modifications and regulatory changes affecting participants.*
Assist with reconciliation with health benefit claims issues on
behalf of employees as appropriate* Maintains a current working
knowledge of benefit legislation, industry standards and best
practices* Provides guidance and assistance to employees relative
to the policies, practices, and procedures affecting their benefit
eligibility and entitlements.* Maintains and updates the employee
Benefits Summaries and information for a variety of benefit plans
(medical, dental, ancillary, flexible spending, PTO, retirement
plans, etc.)* Maintains and updates the employee benefit website to
ensure that changes are communicated timely; and Employee
Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) notices are posted in
accordance with published specifications. May be required to send
company-wide communication notices via e-mail or through the
employee portal* Performs as liaison between employment benefit
vendors and employees to ensure adherence to plan provisions and to
resolve issues or to reconcile claims* Responds and tracks
unemployment claims and assists in protest hearings for ineligible
claimants*Qualifications of the Benefits Specialist:** Completed
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience* A minimum of 1
year recent experience performing benefits analysis and/or
administration* Well versed in federal and state employment and
leave laws as well as knowledge of relevant federal state
regulations including HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, etc.* Ability to design
and generate queries, reports, and export from HRIS System* Highly
organized with strong and thorough written and verbal communication
skills* Timely response skills needed to respond to employees,
employee inquiries, claims, billing, and entitlement issues*
Proficient with online benefit databases, use of Excel spreadsheets
required* Ability to query data and structure data in easy-to-use
reports and charts* Proficient using Microsoft Office suite and
