Job Description:
TheOffice of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides
operations supportservices and business solutions to the community
of 10,000 House Members,Officers and staff. The CAO organization
comprises more than 650 technical andadministrative staff working
in a variety of areas, including informationtechnology, finance,
budget management, human resources, payroll, child care,food and
vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
The Gold Star Family Program (aka Green & Gold Congressional Aide
Program)was established to create employment opportunities for Gold
Star Families(hereinafter "Families") within the House of
Representatives. These two-year positionsprovide Families with
experience and exposure to broaden careeropportunities. Positions
are available in congressional Member District
Officesnationwide.
Duties will vary depending upon the specific requirements of each
MemberOffice. Said duties may include, but are not limited to:
working as aconstituent services representative helping local
constituents resolve issueswith federal agencies; serving as a
liaison to local Veterans ServiceOrganizations (VSO); attending
local events and meetings on behalf of yourMember of Congress; and
performing legislative work.
SPECIFICDUTIES FOR EACH MEMBER OFFICE WILL BE DISCUSSED DURING THE
INTERVIEW PROCESS.

YOU MUST BE A GOLD STAR FAMILY MEMBER AND MEET ALL THE FOLLOWING
REQUIREMENTS:
Eligiblecandidates must be a surviving child (including a
stepchild), spouse, parent orsibling of:
-A person who dies in the line of duty while serving as a member of
the ArmedForces (including the reserve components and the National
Guard), regardless ofthe duty status of the member while serving,
unless such death was as a resultof the willful misconduct of the
member; or
-Family member of veteran with an Honorable Discharge who died of a
serviceconnected disability (as defined in section 101 of title 38,
United StatesCode) during the four-year period beginning on the
date of the last dischargeor release of the veteran from the Armed
Forces.
NOWAIVERS WILL BE GRANTED.
Qualifications
Detail oriented; excellent organization skills; excellent
communication skills;strong computer skills; ability to complete
projects within timelines and underminimal supervision. Ability to
work well under pressure and maintain aprofessional and courteous
work disposition; ability to exercise discretion andindependent
judgment in handling sensitive information; ability to manage
multipletasks simultaneously. High School Diploma required. Some
college level classespreferred but not required. Effective verbal
and written communicationskills are necessary. Knowledge of the
legislative process is not required butis a plus.
