Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

The Safety Coordinator works to ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the general public on the project. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for enforcing Freyssinet Inc.'s Safety and Health Policy as well as local and federal safety standards on job sites. In addition, this position is responsible for conducting employee safety training and consults with the Safety Manager and the Project Team to develop safe work plans for all phases and tasks. Successful candidates will exemplify safety as a value.

Reports To: Safety Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors and general public
  • Enforce corporate and project specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state and local safety standards
  • Identify known/potential exposures and recommend corrective action
  • Report project specific safety performance and future plans
  • Work closely with field supervision to plan more complex safety aspects of the project construction including critical lifts, hazardous material handling, etc.
  • Develop project specific safety training for jobsite personnel including subcontractors
  • Coordinate third party safety reviews including OSHA Qualifications
  • Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommend corrective actions
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite program
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.

Four year degree in Occupational Safety and Health, engineering

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
