Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role ofSr. Automation Engineerat our headquartersinSterling, Illinois. This position provides specialist level support in the area of the design, acquisition and troubleshooting of automation equipment, standard manufacturing equipment and processes with advance machine control programming to meet our quality requirements for new & existing products. Ensures compliance with ISO. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Designs and redesigns automation equipment to improve quality, improve productivity, and decrease manufacturing process costs. Partners closely with vendors/suppliers to ensure manufacturing requirements are met when procuring equipment. Ensures manufacturing meets production goals while troubleshooting mechanical/operational problems, advance programming, electrical control programs, and making process adjustments. Troubleshoots electronic controls on automated equipment, replaces electronic devices/control system components, programs electronic controllers, programs robots, and makes process adjustments. Troubleshoots mechanical and electronic equipment and devices, continually improving and making adjustments. Writes proprietary and non-proprietary company equipment standards and updates as necessary. Provides technical support to Set-Up, Machine Maintainers and Maintenance Personnel. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Provides specialist level support, serving as a subject matter expert in automation. Serves as a change management leader, ensuring automation initiatives meet objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage. Assists in developing strategies for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of all automation equipment, processes, and programming within the value streams. Partners cross-functionally with Safety, Compliance, Operations, Maintenance, Sales, and Supply Chain, to define needs and identify business requirements. Works systemically, ensuring end-to-end alignment with the organization's strategic initiatives. Implements and continually improves processes designed to increase efficiency, accuracy, meet all regulatory requirements, and add value to the customer. Ensures all functions of job duties are performed in compliance with ISO. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required or Automation Engineering with discipline in Electrical code equivalent. 10+ years of related experience; preferably in a LEAN manufacturing environment. Automation experience preferred: systems from coil winding, screw driving, ultrasonic welding, robotics in high speed assembly to simple automation Programming experience preferred: Allen Bradley PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers), C+ programming, OIP (Operator interface panels), VFD (variable frequency drives) & CAD computer aided drafting Proficient in Microsoft applications Word and Excel.
