Our business helps support their way of life and contributes to the survival of a culture that has thrived in a challenging environmJob Summary: SAVA is seeking an experienced Technicial Writer who will prepare, edit, and produce a variety of technical, non-technical, cyber security, privacy, and other types of documentation. The Technical Writer will be responsible for providing professional technical writing assistance to disparate teams within the Office of Information Systems. This will include both technical and non-technical DEA personnel with minimal or no experience in the technical writing/editing process. It is incumbent upon the technical writer to demonstrate the ability to recognize problem areas within all technical documents and assist the document author/originator with an acceptable final product for adoption into the DEA process. This position assists with all types of technical writing including creating, editing, and maintaining produced documents yearly or as required. Responsibilities:Proofread, revise, and edit a variety of technical information in support of DEA government contractual obligations for engineering, operations, security, and development functions.Collaborate with authors and subject matter experts to verify technical and non-technical content maintains the appropriate contextual meaning during drafts and final product.Deliver approved deliverables to the customer in a timely manner.Meet production and deliverable timelines while maintaining responsiveness and high level of accuracyWrite and/or edit technical documents, including: reports, user manuals, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables as required to meet DEA requirements.Use established document and brief formatsAssists determining document needs of end users.Provide grammar, style, and formatting recommendations to document and brief drafts provided for review.Provide first draft creation for pre-formatted documents and briefs using technical information provided by DEA personnel and contractorsProvide professional integration of graphics, drawings, diagrams, and charts of documents and briefs. Revise documents and briefs as updates are required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by DEA personnel and contractors, ensuring that final documents meet applicable DEA contract requirements and regulations. Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables. Consult relevant information sources (including library resources, technical and financial documents, and DEA personnel and contractors) to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.Ensure all applicable documentation (security, technical, privacy, etc.) is appropriately stored in DEA's Cyber Security Assessment Manager (CSAM) tool. Recognize deficiencies across the enterprise pertaining to technical documentation and notify DEA personnel and contractors as to recommended action. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Must have and be able to maintain an active interim Secret security clearance, or higher.Three (3) or more years of experience drafting/writing/editing technical documents in Information Technology.Must be willing and able to obtain a DEA Suitability clearance prior to start.Desired Qualifications: Must have an understanding of IT privacy requirements-initial privacy assessments (IPAs) and privacy impact assessment (PIA)Must have an understanding of technical/cyber security documentation-system detailed designs, concept of operations (CONOPs), development, engineering, operations, project management, and securityMust be willing to learn how to use/navigate DEA's Cyber Security Assessment Manager (CSAM) tool for document management purposes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-makingExperience in Customer Service - government contractingProficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Adobe Pro.Familiarity with or the ability to learn agile development processes.An active DEA Suitability clearanace is highly desired.Active DoD-issued Secret clearance, or higher, strongly preferred.The duties and responsibilities listed in this job description generally cover the nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
