Program, CRNA to CRNA Referrals Purpose: The Chief CRNA is a
professional nurse who is responsible for formulating a plan
related to quality, cost, and patient outcomes of patient care. By
supporting the philosophy of patient care, the Chief CRNA provides
leadership to the patient care team. The Chief CRNA provides direct
patient care, facilitates staff development, staff performance, and
validates the appropriateness of patient care management.
Demonstrating flexibility in meeting the units needs, the Chief
CRNA assumes responsibilities for operational and personnel
activities of the unit that relate to quality, cost, and outcomes
of patient care. Supports the essential process of sustaining and
improving performance. Responsibilities: Primary Duties: Patient
Care, Performs direct patient care in a manner that reflects
patient care standards. Serves as a role model and as resource
person to staff members in assessing, planning, implementing, and
evaluating care for patients. Develops comprehensive, innovative,
realistic goals and objectives for the CRNAs in collaboration with
the patient care team. - Leadership: Promotes effective planning
and utilization anesthesia resources for efficient and
cost-effective delivery of quality care. Manage and review care and
practice issues Serves as a resource in problem solving, mediating,
and negotiating between anesthesia care team. Acts as a role model
in the development of staff in the charge nurse role. Performs
growth and development conferences, coaches' employees for
performance and provides feedback. Performs annual CRNA performance
evaluations. Empowers Anesthesia Care Team to take ownership of
their actions and responsibilities. Demonstrates commitment to the
development and implementation of innovative strategies to recruit
and retain quality personnel. Facilitates growth and change in a
proactive manner. Demonstrates professionalism through
accountability and confidentiality. Recruits, interviews, hires,
counsels, disciplines, and when necessary, terminates employees.
Performs duties in accordance with the Employee Standards of
Conduct. Supports the essential process of sustaining and improving
performance. Monitors, evaluates, and promotes collaborative,
productive team functioning of all members of the Anesthesia Care
Team. Directs staff to appropriate resources to enhance delivery of
care. Promotes open communication, positive physician/staff
interactions and the timely resolution of inter/intradepartmental
issues. Assesses staffing needs of current and upcoming shifts and
utilizes resources to provide for changing care needs. o
Communicates effectively in inter/intradepartmental matters.
Facilitates inter-shift communication. Monitor CRNA schedule and
payroll Responds to and monitors incident reports. Ensures
department is in compliance with regulatory bodies Conducts staff
meetings for CRNAs monthly Assumes 24-hr. responsibility and
accountability for direction and coordination of activities of
clinical unit. - Professional Development: Demonstrates commitment
to own professional development Maintains a collaborative
relationship with peers. Promotes the anesthesia profession through
community involvement and participation in professional
organizations and as a mentor for all health care providers.
Completes required competencies. - Customer Service: Demonstrates
the highest degree of customer awareness by seeking out
opportunities to identify and meet the needs of internal and
external customers. Treats each person as an individual with
respect and dignity Is receptive to questions and criticism and
willing to offer assistance. Demonstrates genuine concern and
empathy Consistently performs all of the above in a friendly,
courteous manner. Maintains accountability for patient satisfaction
throughout the episode of care. - Secondary Duties: Completes
unit-specific educational requirements as well as System related
fire, safety, and emergency procedures. Performance improvement
Facilitates the performance improvement process by continuous
monitoring and identification of patient outcomes,
intra/interdepartmental and environmental concerns. Displays a
willingness to utilize problem solving techniques to insure
appropriate interventions and resolutions. - Human Relations /
Contact and Communications: Must be optimistic, enthusiastic, and
communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Must
demonstrate a willingness to work constructively and cooperatively
with other health care team members and reflects a concern for both
patients and employees wellbeing. Must demonstrate effective

Minimum of two (2) years clinical anesthesia experience in specific
specialty area with a sound knowledge base. Must demonstrate strong
leadership skills and clinical competency. ACLS and BLS a
requirement. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Minimum of
three (3) years clinical anesthesia experience. Ability to deal
with highly stressful Situations and changing events. Good
communication skills. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: -
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Basic Life Support (BLS) -
