Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVICU - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 08/11/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days, nights - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – CVICU Facility: University of Maryland Saint Joseph Medical Center Location: 7601 Osler Dr, Towson, MD 21204 Start Date: 08/11/2025 Duration: 12 weeks Shifts: - Rotating AM/PM: 07:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30 - Straight nights accepted (19:00–07:30) - 36 or 48 hours/week options available Job Overview: - Unit: Nursing Cardiac ICU (CVICU) - Beds on Unit: 6 - Average Daily Census: 3–5 patients - Patient Ratio: 1:1–2 - Weekends: Every third weekend - On-Call: 24–32 hours required per 8-week schedule - Holidays: As scheduled - Float: May be required to MSICU - Orientation: 24 hours - Scrubs: Provided Required Qualifications: - Active MD or Compact RN License (must be active at time of submission) - Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience - First-time travelers welcome with relevant CVICU background - Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI - Preferred Certs: PALS, TNCC, OCN Skills & Experience: Cardiovascular: - CABG, Valve Replacements (AVR/MVR), ECMO, IABP, Impella - Post-cardiac surgery care (direct and non-direct from OR) - CVP & PA/Swan-Ganz monitoring - Epicardial pacing, Inotropic management, Hemodynamic instability - TAVR, Mitral Clip, Cardiogenic Shock, STEMI/NSTEMI - CRRT, Sheath Removal, Nurse-driven ECMO protocols Respiratory/Thoracic: - Ventilator Management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, Suctioning Medications: - Titration of sedation, cardiac, and vasoactive drips Professional Skills: - Infection prevention, phlebotomy, isolation protocols, surgical wound care - Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG interpretation Common Diagnoses: - CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac surgery readmissions - Pre-operative patients, STEMI/NSTEMI, Inari procedures Unit Special Procedures: First 6 hours post-op may include: - 2 inotropic medications - Hemodynamic instability - Active cardiac output management - Open chest, OHS/Impella, ECMO - CRRT, IABP - Extreme coagulopathy - Or as directed by surgeon About HonorVet Technologies HonorVet Technologies: Pioneering Purpose, Empowering Heroes Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
