Job Description:
The Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the University of
Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) are seeking a highly skilled
Endocrinologist to join our exceptional team. This dual appointment
position offers a unique opportunity to provide outstanding
clinical care to veterans at the Baltimore VAMC and contribute to
academic medicine at UMSOM. The successful candidate will have a
demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, education,
and research.Key Responsibilities:At the VA Maryland Health Care
System (7/8ths FTE): Provide comprehensive clinical care to
veterans with endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid
conditions, and metabolic diseases. Manage inpatient and outpatient
endocrinology consults. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to
enhance patient outcomes and implement evidence-based practices.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance
metrics related to endocrinology care. Engage in teaching and
mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating at
the VAMHCS. Participate in clinical research activities, with
opportunities for collaboration and support from VAMHCS and UMSOM's
resources. At the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1/8th
FTE): Contribute to the academic mission through teaching,
mentorship, and curriculum development for medical students and
trainees. Attend departmental and divisional meetings to contribute
to the strategic goals of the endocrinology program.Qualifications:
Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any
U.S. state or territory. Board Certification/Eligibility:
Board-certified or board-eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and
Metabolism. Experience: Previous experience in clinical care,
education, and/or research in endocrinology is highly desirable.
