PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER$5,000k Sign-on bonusGrafton is
seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for our
Berryville, VA Psychiatric Residential Treatment facility serving
children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental delays
and complex mental health challenges.The Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioner (PNP) provides general psychiatric care and treatment
to Graftons client population (children and adolescents). The PNP
assesses the physical/emotional needs of individuals with
developmental disabilities and psychiatric conditions, prescribes
or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment, and provides
direct services as defined in the scope of practice that pertains
to his/her license. As an PNP at Grafton you will spend 80% of work
hours providing direct billable services, such as evaluations,
medication management visits etc. This position reports to the
Executive Director with a dotted line to the supervising
psychiatrist.Full or Part-time schedule available.ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONSConducts intake assessments, with multiaxial
diagnosis.Identifies need for, initiates, and coordinates referrals
for specialty consultations; Coordinates follow-up with external
medical specialists.Medication Evaluation and Review Assess clients
to determine if pharmacotherapy is warranted. Prescribe appropriate
medication for client condition, conduct periodic medication review
to monitor medication effectiveness and possible side effects,
adjust medication regime according to client needsOrders and
interprets appropriate laboratory studies, x-rays,
electrocardiograms, and other special examinations/testing to
identify and assess clients clinical problems and health care
needs.Discuss clients with supervising physician, as
scheduled.Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings as needed to
consult with treatment team about the course of treatment.
Participates with regional team in providing leadership on
treatment issues.Documents client files, records physical findings,
and formulates plan of care based on clients condition.Signs verbal
orders within 24 hours of giving the order; communicates any
concerns about the procedure with the assigned treatment
team.Counsels and advises clients and families about physical,
developmental, and psychosocial aspects of health through
individual and group contacts to promote optimal health.Contributes
to the health education of individuals and groups and applies
methods designed to increase each persons motivation to assume
responsibility for his/her own healthcare.Model a
positive/professional leadership attitude when dealing with others
in a day-to-day work situation.Participates as an active member of
the Medical Committee.May provide direct clinical intervention as
needed and in coordination with their assigned clinical team, to
include family intervention, individual intervention, and substance
abuse treatment services.Responds to inquiries, issues and concerns
raised by the clients families and guardians and the referring
community agencies.Responds to and follows up on crisis
interventions and incidents throughout the 24 hour period.Reviews
professional literature; attends workshops, seminars and
conferences in order to keep abreast of trends and developments in
human services field.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCERequires a
Masters of Science Nursing (MSN) degree or a Doctorate of Nursing
Practice (DNP).Minimum 3 years experience in the field
required.Must hold a valid Virginia license as issued by the Boards
of Nursing and Medicine.Must hold a Professional Certification by
examination consistent with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
(PMHNP-BC).Must be independently licensed for autonomous
practice.COMPENSATION$70/hour commensurate with experience and
