The selected manager will be a key technical leader for the Mission Systems Engineering organization for technical program execution, new business proposals, and consistency of system architectures and design processes across the Space Security (SPS) and National Security Space (NSS) Business Units. This role will lead the Mission Engineering function and will directly (and indirectly, through assigned staff) provide program capture technical expertise, drive architecture development and trades, lead analysis of alternatives, integrate system of systems, deliver mission analysis and mod/sim work-products, provide mission domain and payload phenomenology expertise, develop and maintain mission area roadmaps, and expand (or grow) strong connections and intimacy with client communities.

The selected Manager will be responsible for identifying Mission Engineering resource needs (people, tools, areas, and support services), working with stakeholders to address these needs, and planning growth and development of the department and staff. The Manager will also be responsible for managing Mission Engineering technical personnel assigned to a department with a staff size of approximately 25 members. In addition, he/she will ensure qualified and appropriate personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of SPS and NSS programs, and track and execute peer reviews for major program events. The functional role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees. The Manager will also be responsible for assuring Mission Engineering execution across the SPS and NSS BU's, on all performance criteria (technical and cost/schedule of SE scope). This will be achieved through leadership and guidance of Mission Engineering teams throughout the program life cycle. The Manager will serve as a technical check and balance of all Mission Engineering activities in the portfolio, including new business capture planning and proposal concepts development and staffing.
In addition, the candidate will be a working Technical Leader on SPS and/or NSS program(s) the split between direct and indirect is approximately 80%/20%. Regarding program assignments, the candidate will be responsible for technical, cost, and schedule requirements of pre-proposal efforts, proposal development, design and development, internal/customer design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal. The Mission Engineering team leads architectural trades and system functional decomposition to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer mission requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
Experience in Mission Engineering for National Security mission critical applications.
Experience with NSS payloads, phenomenology and industry supply-chain.
Bachelors of Science Degree in STEM Science Technology Engineering or Math and 20+ years of experience, or Masters of Science Degree and 18+ years of experience.
Must have U.S.Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI and SSBI clearance.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated team leadership skills and strategic planning ability.

Advanced Technical Degree
Experience with personnel/functional Management of engineering staff.
