The Director of Product Strategy reports to the Vice President of the Geospatial Business and manages the new product vision and roadmap for the organization. This person is empathetic to customers and can clearly understand their needs even when they themselves do not. The Director of Product Strategy defines the vision for products before others can conceptualize them, then has the ability to convince others of the vision. A key characteristic of this role is the ability to turn the reluctant into true believers.


An ideal candidate is highly technical, with a strong background in cloud computing, software design, full motion video, agile management, and classical computer science. A background that includes data sciences, data visualization, and business intelligence is key. They should understand and have a strong background in agile new product development of both products and services with a focus on software. The Director of Product Strategy performs customer analysis and builds business cases & models with strong financial analysis to back up R&D investment plans. They will define the R&D programs and are a key implementer of R&D cost, schedule and scope.

The ideal candidate has a background in enterprise architecture design. They must work across engineering teams to define high level systems architecture and work with agile technical project managers to decompose systems into functional building blocks for allocation to engineering teams. An understanding the relationships between product vision, functional definition, capability decomposition, and allocation of decomposed capabilities across the roadmap is critical.

Finally, the ability to communicate with others is vital to the success of this role. This individual must have outstanding verbal, visual and written communication skills. A background in giving presentations, proposals, technical writing and public speaking is paramount.


Qualifications

• Minimum of undergraduate degree in a technical field or minimum of 3 year of experience.
• Strong business & financial management knowledge
• Project Management experience
• Proven technical vision & leadership
• An understanding of Full Motion Video (FMV).
• Proven Marketplace vision & leadership
• Demonstrated ability to identify customers and secure product sales
• An understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a plus.
