Our customer, the Best Choice Employer in the Utility Construction and Network Installation business, is hiring Designers in Chantilly, VA to support ongoing Telecommunication projects. Under general supervision, this position creates underground and aerial construction drawings for utility installations. Responsibilities: - Utilize AutoCAD for base-mapping, designing Outside Plant buried and aerial design including running line selection, manholes/handholes locations, conduit, innerduct, microduct and cable design for fiber optics along with make-ready engineering and poles - Outside Plant utility designs, public right-of-way, private easements, researching existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas - Knowledgeable in city, county, state and local municipalities encroachment permits and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans, Forest Service, BLM), easement, right of way and various environmental permits are highly desired - Must be able to interact with the local municipalities, Telco engineers and construction/maintenance forces to acquire OSP Records, existing utility information, ICGS, Assessor Maps, map info, AIS and Construction Prints, and to research recorded documents independently - Site surveys, translating field notes to develop and update conduit/ cable engineering design drawings in AutoCAD Qualifications: - AutoCAD knowledge, experience, and skills - Experience reading blueprints, conduit prints and construction drawings preferred - Complete markups - Report graphics preparation - Set-up and prepare plans - Provide assistance with submittals - Maintain QA/QC processes and requirements - Self-motivated with strong time management skills - Ability to communicate effectively - Clear driving record valid driver's license - Experience with telecommunications design and/or utility design a plus The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent(s) of this job.
