Type of Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: C ACI is seeking a
motivated System Safety Engineer to support the Naval Surface
Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) and the US Coast Guard
Human Systems Integration Division (CG-1B3). This position is
located in Bethesda, MD. This role supports the USCG Domestic
Icebreaker Program. The ideal candidate does not need to be a
subject matter expert but should possess a general familiarization
with hazard analysis processes, safety tools, and engineering
principles. You will work to identify hazards, assess risks, and
ensure the safety of systems and equipment throughout their
lifecycle. Responsibilities: Hazard Analysis & Risk Management
(MIL-STD-882) Perform and support system safety analyses in
accordance with MIL-STD-882 tasks, including: Task 101: Review
hazard analyses and test documentation for validity. Task 106:
Review contractor design artifacts and document single-point
failures. Task 201 & 202: Complete Preliminary Hazard Lists (PHL)
and Preliminary Hazard Analyses (PHA). Task 204 & 205: Complete
Sub-System Hazard Analyses (SSHA) and System Hazard Analyses (SHA).
Task 207: Complete Health Hazard Analyses (HHA), including
Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). Identify hazards and
implement mitigations to reduce residual mishap risk in
coordination with contractor and ship design managers. Database
Management & Tracking Serve as the Database Manager for the System
Safety component of the Hazard Tracking System (HTS). Enter, track,
control, and document risks using the government-provided HTS.
Participate in tabletop reviews and testing of the HTS. Program
Support & Documentation Support the update and execution of the
Waterways Commerce Cutter (WCC) System Safety Management Plan
(SSMP). Prepare and draft written documentation, including
management plans, special topic papers, and technical reports.
Review program documentation, drawings, and analyses provided by
contractors. Collaboration & Integration Collaborate effectively
with the Program Manager’s staff, sponsors, and Engineering
Technical Authorities (TA). Maintain alignment with the Program’s
Integrated Government Schedule (IGS) and Integrated Master Schedule
(IMS). Attend government, stakeholder, and contractor meetings
regarding system safety. Coordinate with stakeholders to identify
areas in ship design requiring safety improvements. Qualifications:
Required: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems
Safety, or a related technical field. Experience: General
familiarization with Hazard Analysis processes and tools.
(Expert-level mastery is not required; we are looking for
foundational competence and the ability to learn). Technical
Knowledge: Familiarity with MIL-STD-882 (System Safety Program
Requirements). Communication: Strong written and verbal
communication skills for drafting reports and collaborating with
design teams Desired: Experience with US Navy or US Coast Guard
ship design or acquisition programs. Experience using Hazard
Tracking Systems (HTS) or similar database tools. Understanding of
Human Systems Integration (HSI) principles. This position is
contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. However,
this position is representative of positions within CACI that are

factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited
to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor
categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience,
specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
