Position Details -
Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Sterling and Ashburn, VA
Shift: Mostly weekday, first shift hours
However, some customers may require evening and/or weekend
support.
Compensation: $75k - $95k + OT (depending on experience)
This is a salaried, non-exempt role where you will be guaranteed a
40-hour a week paycheck.
If you work over 40 hours/week you will be compensated with
overtime.
Portal to portal pay means you are also compensated for your time
traveling to customer sites.

Travel: Travel to customer sites up to 100 miles away and twice a
quarter overnight travel.
Laptop, tools, a car allowance, toll reimbursement, and milage per
diem, are also provided to ensure you are successful in this
role.

Position Description -Field Service Engineer
The UPS Field Service Engineer applies diversified knowledge of the
power electronics industry to complete start-up, testing,
troubleshooting, operations and maintenance work of UPS and related
critical power equipment. The FSE will be home based and dispatched
to customer sites as required.
Specific Duties Include:
--- Responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and providing
emergency support on power electronics at customers' sites within
the regional coverage area.
--- Performs commissioning-focused design reviews, prepares
commissioning test procedures and reports, coordinates and oversees
on-site testing.
--- Involved in preventive maintenance, emergency response,
equipment start-up and/or field modifications.
--- Attends periodic training at the company's headquarters on
various OEM units and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which
includes testing equipment and/or rebuilding older systems.
--- Troubleshoots issues with the technical-support group related
to maintenance or operation of equipment.
--- Participates in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs)
and be expected to consult with supervisor(s) concerning unusual
problems and developments.
Requirements -
The ideal candidate has prior military experience and 3+ years'
experience in the critical power industry with the ability to
troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS,
batteries, PDU's, STS, etc. UPS original equipment manufacturer
factory training or experience in Liebert / Emerson / Vertiv , APC
/ MGE / Schneider , or Eaton / Powerware is required. The position
also requires excellent verbal, written communication skills,
ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and customer relation skills.
