This is a key position in line for succession within the Finance Department of a dynamic, growing company. The Business Unit Assistant Controller is responsible for directing the operation of a large department within Accounting. The Assistant Controller is responsible for mentoring and leading the day-to-day activities of the staff along with the accounting supervisors. Responsibilities will include improving workflows, processes, and ensuring timely and accurate billing and reporting.The ideal candidate will not only be an accomplished accountant but proactive with company finances. The ultimate goal will be to guide the business unit and company towards profitability and success and provide advice on the best path for growth. Duties include establishing targets, developing budgets, and performing financial analysis for the Residential Business Unit.Duties also include entering adjusting entries and reviewing month-end journal entries for accuracy, as well as the review of P&L accounts and reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts. This position will have responsibilities associated with monthly financial reporting as well as annual budget preparation.

• Responsible for a key Departments day-to-day operation through communication and relationships with Accounting Supervisors.
• Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue and recommend any required solutions for growth and profitability.
• Perform regular financial analysis
• Attends and has input in management meetings.
• Responsible for proper General Ledger coding, month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Works with CFO and GL Team on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Involved in financial audit preparation.
• Assists the accounting management team with improving efficiencies and workflows.
• Assists Department Heads with financial reporting and job costing for their departments.
• Responsible for pro-active identification and resolution of any issues or reconciling items related to general ledger balance sheet accounts.
• Guide reports in system and work improvement efforts to increase productivity.
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 7 years of experience, with 3 years in a Supervisory role
• Strong GL experience - month-end close, reconciliations and full cycle general ledger
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including advanced MS Excel ability.
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Big four audit experience would be helpful
• CPA or an MBA from a competitive, accredited university is a plus.
