Job Description:
Neustar, Inc. seeks a Senior Network Engineer (Sterling, VA) Duties: Design, configure, install, and maintain network
connectivity within and between multiple data centers and co-locations across
the company’s global presence. Install, configure and maintain
routers, switches, load balancers, servers, and other network devices.
Identify and diagnose network problems to resolution while minimizing
downtime and customer impact. Maximize network performance by monitoring
performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling
upgrades; and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
Lead and participate in hardware and software evaluations, contribute to
the ongoing maintenance and evolution of the network infrastructure, and
perform hardware/software analysis to provide comparative data of
performance characteristics and suitability within the existing and future
network environment. Develop scripts and tools to automate and interface
with vendor platforms to monitor and automate network functions.
Prepare trade- off studies and evaluations for vendor equipment. Generate
network monitoring and performance reports for utilization studies.
Recommend network design changes and enhancements for improved
performance, availability and security. Interact with users to define
system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Maintain
comprehensive documentation regarding network configuration, operating
procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software.
Produce procedures and configuration guides for use by Network
Engineering & Operations team. Configure, implement, and maintain DNS
infrastructure. Implement new service enhancements within the production
network. Configure, implement, and maintain DMVPN. Education and Experience: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science,
Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and three (3)
years of experience designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting
scalable IP networks, OR, alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign
equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or
related field and five (5) years of experience as indicated above. Special Requirements: Also requires demonstrated expertise (DE): configuring and
implementing routers, switches, load balancers, cloud connectivity, and DNS
servers; DE optimizing and designing networks using routing protocols OSPF
and BGP, and DMVPN; DE troubleshooting network related issues using various
tools, including Sniffer, Tcpdump, and Wireshark to analyze network
related problems; DE automating functions, deployments, and operational
procedures using 3rd party tools and industry standard languages including
Python and Perl; DE utilizing Cacti, Distributed Sniffer, Rancid, Cisco,
Infoblox, and Juniper to troubleshoot and automate network infrastructure; DE
providing cloud connectivity between cloud providers, including AWS and
RackSpace and internal networks; DE designing, configuring and maintaining
enterprise wide DMVPN connectivity; and DE coordinating network and
